first swift

saw my first swift of the year this morning on the way to the paper shop,Flying all that way from Africa to get here. Hard to think that these little creatures sleep on the wing, hardly ever landing. Amazing!

They are amazing aren't they?Our House martins haven't arrived yet they do tend to come later than the Swallows and Swifts.

I love the screaming of swifts, always reminds me of summer but I'm in a fairly rural area and don't see them, they tend to be in towns don't they? First house martin last weekend but swallow 7 april.

Seen a couple of tiny blue tits clinging onto the brickwork outside our bedroom window and patio door, hope they dont make a nest too close, we have a big fat cat thinking of getting fatter by catching more birds ..
