Norton Antivirus Download for free?
8 Answers
Hi, I recently bought a new computer and want to download Norton Antivirus onto it. The computer has XP so I had a look on Google for sites where I could download it for free, pretty much all of the sites where I look say 15 days free trial then $49.99 after that... Can anyone tell me where to download Norton for free, for XP, or recommend any other good Antivirus programs I can download for free? Thanks in advance =)

I also know of ppl who have bought it and then changed to a free one which is far better. Norton is very hard to get rid of on a pc once installed.. registry is full of crap.
I recommend AVG anti virus (free version) from http://www.grisoft.com .. I also have AntiVir which is also free and available from http://www.free-av.com (it was recommended to me by a pc techie).

I hate to disagree with people but I subscribed to Norton and last year when my subscription ran out, decided to get a free program and stop paying.
I installed AVG which caused me nothing but trouble with my e-mail and all sorts. Ended up deleting AVG (which I haven't actually managed to do properly, i still get error messages coming up and it won't let me remove what is left of the program) and going back to Norton - I was quite happy to pay after the nightmare I had with AVG.
Melissa83, there are loads of P2P sites that you can download Norton from, but it will be an illegal copy, and I am not sure if you would be able to get the automatic updates on an illegal copy.I have tried AVG before, and like Sammy Snake I had email problems.I purchased Norton online from PC World and it cost me about 25.Well worth the investment.
...with my new computer (3yrs old now) Norton stuff was preloaded and free for one year.....I now have to pay 45 pounds a year to keep the anti virus and firewall up to date, Neverthless I feel it is good value as I have never had any problems....commoner...As far as I am concerned Illegal software is a no no..............
get a cracked version of nortan from a P2P program called limewire. Free version available at www.limewire.com
OMG, Limewire is slow and full of spyware. A lot of the downloads are corrupt, don't work or aren't as described.
I've had no problems with AVG. Have you tried AntiVir from http://www.free-av.com ?
