is it me or do you think some of the people who answer on here have never walked down the road in the real world.
they can give a link from a paper site or website, they can quote figures and there spelling is correct but you think to yourself in the real world no one bothers or that does not happen.
is it because i come from a working class multiracial area and know people who fiddle the system that i view things differently.

do you think that there are alot of people who live in the cardboard cut out world ?

Hear hear NoM, my thoughts exactly.
But technically DrF you were - I think - wrong, if that chap is using your postal address then he is telling the DWP that he lives with you. They certainly do check, when my OH came to live here and had to sign on before getting work , my 25% discount stopped like a shot.

NoMercy you are taking me the wrong way, i fiind it hard to put in words. i am typing as fast as i can to try and answer
Well, perhaps you can clear it up for us, DrF.... Could you tell us who you think doesn't live in the "real" world and why they don't live there?

Btw... sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick.
the DWP and council can't possibly cross check every claim "just in case". I'd like to think the majority are honest, but the manpower and expense that would be involved with double checking all claims would be absolutely enormous.

report it, then they know.

boxtops he was homeless he needed an address, the dwp would not accept his works address.the guy worked full time but he had to have a postal address.

i lived with my cats he did not like cats and had no time for them, do you think i would want him near my pets. think about it
why was he homeless and yet worked full time?
people can claim benefits as No Fixed Abode, with a correspondence address.
I pay Council Tax on 3 properties (I only live in one) & only have 1 voting card !

so, dont feel guilty if you dont pay ct.....I'm paying it for you :)
Where did he sleep then? I know this is not what your post is about, but I don't understand.
Question Author
NoMercy i am not saying that the person who does not pay council tax is correct , i am trying to explain why there are alot of people not on lists.

you sign a form to state that you are single to get the council tax discount.

you have another form to sign to say who lives at the property and can vote.

if you were going to fiddle one you would be daft to be honest on the other form ?
DrF the answer to your last question has to be Yes, a person has to be consistent.

cazzz it is a long story and it is his private life.

boxtops he slept where he worked he was like a foreman and had the keys, he did for over the 12 years that i knew him.
if he was working, why were the DWP interested in him?
The job centre are crap.

I signed on in July 2007 when my Dad was given 6 months to live. I sighed off in March 2008 after he died and I got another job.

I get a phone call in Jan 2010 asking me to go in for a review. I asked why and was told that if I didn't it could effect my benefits.......

but I don't receive any benefits....
don't you...
no...
Hold on...No you don't but it might be best for you to come in anyway...
why...
In case you claim benefits in the future....
I have no intention to.....
You should still come in...
No..bye.

sara it was to do with his pension

people will wonder why did he not rent a place , he did at one time , he worked 12 hour shifts, he would leave at just past 5am in the morning to get to work, he worked 6am -6pm day shift and 6pm -6am night shft.

the local thugs knew the flat was empty and broke in around 3 times , they stripped his place bare. they even took his mug and toothbrush. he would sleep on are bare floor with no heating.

the council offered him another fat but in just a similar place if not worse so one day he went to work and he never left

and that is a true story ,
