Doing a lot of work in the house this year (should say hubby is) and am planning on knocking an interior wall down.
This is a load bearing wall and someone has told hubby that if that is the case you need to have planning permission to do this.
Is this correct?
Have lived in a few houses where we have done this and have not got permission to do it.
Dont think you need planning permission but I would think you would need building regulation approval. Contact your local building inspector he will be able to help you.
Get the local building control on board ....get structural calculations done for the new supports and stick to them. If you dont you could have problems if you try to sell.
Why did you ask if you'd already done it? unless your husband is FENSA approved you also need building regs for doing the windows. Should any damage or injury occur to anyone as a result of the works, if building regs were required but not sought, then you will find yourself liable.
