MPs have staffing needs that Ex-MPs don't - so I'm afraid while there may be jobs for some, the majority of constituency staff - mainly secretaries - will be out of a job. This is one of the convincing arguments for allowing MPs to employ their spouses as staff; it's not necessarily a job for life and there are almost never any prospects of promotion. My next-door neighbour was secretary to a popular and hard-working Labour MP. In what turned out to be Tony Blair's last election campaign, however, he lost his seat and she lost her job and ultimately her house. MPs get a redundancy payment, constituency staff don't get much more than a thank you.
