Glastonbury

Is there anywhere decent to stay in Glastonbury? (Not during the festival, just generally). When I had to stay there I could only find a stinky pub, because the only (very small) hotel i could find was full.

When and for how long? I recently booked a small (1 bedroom) holiday cottage for �350 near Street (6 nights). Seeing as a hotel for a week would have been around the same, I thought it was a good deal - this is the peak season price too, and you can generally book these places for weekends if a week is too long.

You could try the Wessex Hotel in nearby Street - it looks a bit 1970s but it's good value for money.

If you're feeling flush, try Charlton House in nearby Shepton Mallet...but take your gold credit card!

It's a nice B&B (�30 a night), lovely breakfasts and somewhat eccentric hosts! It's well located too.
