Can anyone tell me if I would be able to go to my local specsavers and have prescription lenses put in a pair of normal sunglasses bought from the highstreet.

I have a high prescription so cant just wear fashion sunglasses.

why not ask them at specsavers? im sure they can do that at a charge like always.
It is possible – but the sunglasses need to be of the type that can accommodate your lenses. This normally means that the construction of the sunglasses must include screws in the frame, retaining each of the lenses. Cheap sunglasses often use plastic lenses which are snap fitted within fixed frames – it would not be possible to fit prescription lenses within this type of frame.

As suzie1 says, ask them – but I suspect they will need to see the frames in order to give a definitive answer.
I don't think specsavers reglaze lenses into any other frames but their own. Other stores may do.
Dollard and Aitchison do ,fab
try budgetspex, onlien store...they will regaze for £8.99

howver the frames must have a screw near the actual frame and another near the arm
Why not just go to specsavers and buy a pair of prescription sunglasses? Then you would know that everything is OK.
I must admit I have no experience of this as my daily specs are photosensitive, so I don't have to bother with separate pairs of glasses - I too have a high prescription so my ordinary varifocals double up as sunglasses when necessary.
