Whether one is a BNP supporter or not, would it have been better in the name of democracy, if there had been at least two BNP MPs in the Commons?

Not so. How many people wouldve voted BNP but didnt have a candidate standing for election in their constituency? You can only vote for who's on the card! Whereas the big 3 parties wouldve have candidates in every area.

@SNAFU - The BNP fielded candidates only in those areas where they felt they had the best chance -repeat: the best chance - of gaining votes, and in only 4 of the seats they contested did they get enough support to retain their deposit. Hardly a ringing endorsement, and on that basis, why do you think they would have done any better had they fielded a greater number of candidates?
