What Is Wrong With My Belly Button Piercing?
53 Answers
I have had my belly button pierced for about 6 years now. I recently took it out and left it out for about a week because i had lost the ball to my bar & it was the only one i had. I put the bar through everyday and left it in for a bit to make sure it didn't close up. Now it absolutely kills me! It seems to be really tight & i think it is closing up! It only hurts when i have the bar in. The actual hole (the bit of skin the covers the bar) just goes red as soon as i put the bar in & it's really hard to put in & take it out. I have been cleaning it with salt water every day, just once a day. It just hurts & i want to know whats wrong & i really don't want it to close up. Help! x

Leave it out, get to the doctors to get it checked out (nurse appointment should suffice) and make sure it heals properly before you risk messing about with it again.
If you leave it, it will get worse and it will not be pleasant and you could end up with a lasting scar or worse - maybe desperately appealing to your vanity is the only way forwards here!

If it has got infected there may be a scar there regardless of what you do so there is no good reason for getting it properly looked after and healed.
Prolonging getting the infection sorted will just make things worse.
If you had looked after it properly in the first place you probably wouldn't have been in this situation. A lesson learnt if you even get it pierced again.
