Certainly not.
As this is a state visit and the Pope is coming in his capacity of head of state and not merely as a religious leader, then he should be treatead no differently from any other foreign head of state whose visits are funded by the taxpayer.
Most heads of state don't actually preach hypocrisy at us, though.......

With the new government announcing many cut backs - this definately should not be funded by taxpayers.

So they don't watch kids starve to death, but they let priests sexually abuse them, and no we shouldn't pay for his visit
