Can anyone tell me how to trace a James Carney son of James (Jem) Carney who died aged 80 years in Twickenham 9 Sept 1941.He was shown as in attendance on his fathers death certificate and his address was given as

I have no other information regarding him. If anyone can tell my next move I would be very grateful

I agree with Dot. Here's why: I have had a quick look at possible births for James senior and there are 10 in England and Wales about 1861. Looking in the 1871 Census, there are 10 James Carneys but I don't think they are the same 10. As an aside, 8 of them are of Irish descent, and in Liverpool or Birmingham where there were many immigrants at this time. Nowhere near Twickenham. Looking in 1881, more James Carneys born in the same year but in Ireland made an appearance, so the task of selecting one is vast.
For an 1861 birth, you might expect a first marriage 1881 - 1891. The Irish had a convention in naming offspring, so James junior may not have been the first-born. and then, of course, there is the possibility of bereavement and subsequent marriage...
So all this means that James junior could have been born anytime from about 1881 to the 1912 birth that Cazzz1975 found.
