I am flying to Alicante in June. What are the dual carriageways like there? Are they generally busy outside of the big cities or relatively free? We are heading south once we have picked the car up, but rather than taking the coast road will be on the dual carriageways for a while.
Last time I was at the airport (April 9th) there were doing a lot of roadworks and I have to have a little diversion, but I was heading north, not south.
Tolls are pretty pricey, and check your change... there are one or two unscrupulous toll booth attendants.
Generally pretty free flowing -we travel to Los Alcazeres (Mar Menor) and theres 2 toll about 2€ for both. Not sure of roadworks at the moment though.
Where are you going as a matter of erm nosiness :)
the motorway North of airport is fine - and a good drive - South is the same I would imagine.. Spanish motorways tend to be better than ours and are well maintained
We are going to san juan de los terreros for a wedding, but can't afford to get stuck in road works on the way down as there is a very small window from the time we pick the hire car up and the wedding starting!
We travel south from Alicante at least twice a year if we cant get flight direct to Murcia.
We are slightly less than an hour to our location and when we travelled on to Almeria it was approx another hour and a half.
I shouldnt imagine you will have any problems and enjoy the wedding we loved Andalucia :)
