An easier way is to decide where in the country you want to study and contact your local education authority by phone and ask for all the names of colleges in the area offering catering courses. Ring them up and request a prospectus and then arrange visits to the ones that appeal. There appears to be only one school/college that has its own website, http://www.chef-school.co.uk/ but it does look pretty impressive. It is the Butler's Wharf Chef School at The Cardomom Building, 31 Shad Thames, London SE1 2YR tel. 0207 357 8842 or e-mail [email protected]. At least if you get a prospectus from here you have got something to compare the others to. Good luck!
I've been trying to find a chef course recently and was wondering the same thing. I've done some research and have found a pretty good list of colleges offering chef courses at http://www.chef-jobs.co.uk/ and there's lots of info on vocational courses at http://careersadvice.direct.gov.uk/ though I 'm still not quite sure whether I should do an nvq or an apprenticeship :s
