Disasters in the sub-continent usually have more fatalities than 15.

I often wonder if we always NEED to know about all the disasters in other countries.

For centuries things like this happened all over the world, but word never reached us, and people got on with their lives.

Now because of ease of communications, and "instant" news, we get to hear about anything and everyting, much of which does not really affect us one way or another.

Can I do anything about these people in Poland ? Does it affect my life one way or another? Does it just give me one more thing to "worry" about.

There are about 10 people a DAY killed on Britains roads, so 15 in Poland is not a great disaster. There are probably that many who die in one area of Africa of AIDS a day.

Is there not a danger we all get swamped by world news?

Most have polish peeps in their towns. Poland's infastructure is more solid than that of sub-cont; hence the lesser loss of life.

t'would be nice to have 'equal' reporting as lots of Brits have moved to Poland.

According to some London radio news reports, there are stabbings on the streets of our capital almost every night, but they get very little coverage on TV or the newspapers.

A friend was flying to Poland for a short break today, most of my housemates family are Polish, I was interested to see which area was affected.

15 people dieing hundreds of miles away is hardly something everyone needs to be aware of. Why would it be on the news unless there was nothing better to report?
