They are scrapping the idea as an infringement to our civil liberties, and for the cost.
It wouldn't bother me at all, our Medical people have used them for eons, I used one at BT, nearly all places of work use one!
As for the cost, surely it would pay for itself in the long run?
Or are you totally against carrying one and why?

(Mopsy gets telegram from HM Queen)

(but HM Queen fails to produce ID card when apprehended in Post Office queue, and is taken into custody, thus delaying the despatch of Mopsy's telegram).
Sorry JJ, I never worked at the quarry and have never been there. Thanks to google earth I have located the explosive store and perimeter weak links without leaving my chair..
Where did I mention fiddling taxes ?!?

I merely used that as a scenario to demonstrate that a third party can interpose themselves into areas of your life that they should not be able to.
We know. We logged the date from your ISP us when your Google Earth zoomed in on the quarry.
we had them here in Spain (I still have one cos it runs out in 2012) but all we get after that is a scrubby bit of paper. I love the cards and we are pleading for them to be brought back: They are really useful : Why are the Brits so anxious about their privacy and civil rights when they give details away in FB?
wouldn't bother me (or my OH) at all tohave to carry an ID card. They have to have them in other European countries, so what's the big deal here. I have to wear one at my place of work (a hospital) ..... if you have nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear.

Those of us who shop at supermarkets and use credit cards have all their details stored (not to mention our shopping habits) stored somewhere.
