When I was young there was Bootham Park (still there), Naburn, Clifton, the Retreat (still there) and a few smaller ones which were described as sanatoriums.

I'm a southerner, living in Manchester and I absolutely love York. I think it is a fantastic city and had a trip there at the beginning of this week. What are they doing to the Minster? Is it just a clean-up?

Minster is soo big and old that they are always cleaning and repairing. Basically once they get around once, they have to start again =)

It's very interesting to look around the workshop of the Minster craftsmen, especially the masons. When I went they were making some replacement gargoyles and it was quite fascinating.
