noisy neighbours - what would you do

at the endd of last summer some people moved in behind us. last summer their music was playing all day at top volume - thus spoiling it when we tried to sit in the garden to relax. we let it be as thought it may not be the same this summer...but it is! yesterday I had to sit in the garden with earplugs (yes really! ) and even that didnt work. The Q to you all is: would you a) go knock on their door and tell them what a nuisance it is? or b) send a note with my name and house number asking them to turn it down or c)send an anonymous note. We are not intolerant generally but it really looks set to ruin our summer! ps - its only during the day time so i doubt they are breaking any public nuisance noise laws...

Environmental Health have told me that there is no right time to play music at a level that causes problems. It depends on the level of noise and frequency.
