Does anybody know whether over 60s who have a pass for free bus travel in England can use them in Scotland. According to the yougov website these passes are for people resident in their respective countries, i.e. resident in england, use english buses, resident in wales etc. I am sure I read something about someone who went from lands end to john o groats by free public transport, how would this have worked. We are going to be in Scotland later in the year and want to be able to get into city centres by public transport and stay on the outskirts. Would this be possible.

Before the last General Election, there were moves afoot to make the bus passes UK-wide but in the current economic climate, I doubt very much if these will be advanced.
The person who went from Lands End to John o'Groats was given a Scottish pass for the publicity value - he wasn't actually entitled to it
Can Scots use their passes in England and Wales?
only if wearing the kilt (and subject to underwwear inspection too).

Thanks for this, it confirmed what I had suspected. Does make a bit of a mockery of a nationwide bus pass, but guess we will be lucky if we keep the one we have for our own country let alone getting it extended.
