Will we lose the internet if the phone bill isn't paid?

We're with BT for the phone and AOL with the internet, but we're considering having our phone cut off because we find the BT bills ridiculously overpriced considering we hardly ever use the phone. I'm wondering if we don't pay the bill, and BT cuts the phone off, will the internet be lost too?

It's a fee to rent their wire from the exchange and a bit of rack space for the connections. Of course you could always go to someone else with something similar like a cable TV company...
