Are England caps real?

Years ago a player who was capped received a real cap. There's an old picture of Billy Wright with a great stack of his, for he had over a hundred.
Do modern players get an actual cap or is the word 'cap' now' just a reminder of the old practice ? If so, when did the practice stop ?

Once the internet arrived they stopped getting caps. Now they just get an email with an attachment :- when they print out the attachment it has lots of dotted lines on it.
They just have to carefully fold along the dotted lines... and lo and behold, a little paper cap appears before the footballers eyes.
They can make them any colour they want just by changing the paper in the printer.
If any one individual should receive a great number of these caps, they are more spacesaving than their earlier counterparts and can be stored in an old shoe box rather than taking up space in a binbag in their mothers attic.
The new paper cap saves on postage, and is kinder to the environment.
Now known as the eco cap.!

Players still gain a 'cap' for each game they play in. But now more than likely they will gain one actual cap for each tournament qualifier ie euro qualifiers , WC qualifiers etc they play in (so one cap could cover 4,5.6 games etc. The situation may be different for the other home nations.

All players are allowed to keep their match played shirt and 'spare' shirt in games that they have played in. Thats why some players exchange their shirts with the opposition off the pitch rather than on it, so they can keep their match played shirt and exchange their unused spare.

They usually get a goody pack from the international side they have played against.
