Every time we use the air con in the car it smells like stagnent water. Does anyone know how to change the water (Audi A4) or how to stop it from smelling. Thanks
Look for the water drain point. It should drain naturally (no blockages) No resevoir.
If the pollen filter has not been changed in a couple of years or 10000 miles, get that changed too.
as Toureman says about water because there is no water in it - just gas in the A/C
check air inlet point by heater matrix & pollen filter for dead leaves etc.
I'd also advise to use it regulary throughout the year! and not just in the (hot!!) summer months! if you dont use your A/C for 6months then your bound to get whiffey smells when you switch it for the 1st time.
As MrIncredible says use your a/c on a regular basis,I do mine once a week for 10 minutes,if you dont use it all kinds of germs build up in it including legionnaires. As Toureman says check your air intake, clean if necessary and use a deodorizer.
Interesting.........I have been experiencing this smell too recently (I also have an Audi A4, 2004 model), I was just hoping it would go away? Maybe I need to change the filter too?
