identity card??

Has anyone heard that the identity card is going to be scrapped? Ive just got 2 of them in January for my holiday in Sept,and they say there is no refund on them!!Have to buy two bloody passports now at £76 each.Please some one tell me ive got it wrong.Thanx.

unfortuantely the ID card scheme is being scapped. David Cameron has always said that he would get rid of it if he came to power.

Unfortunately for you, you are a citizen of a country where certain articles of faith are also political pressure points. Other countries (of different faiths) do not have the same fears and use identity cards - like you, people there find nothing wrong with the concept and, lo, the sky does not fall in on them. They should perhaps thank Britain for continuing to prop it up for them.

Where were you traveling to that you only needed an ID card?

I am travelling to Spain which accepts the i d card instead of a passport,or so i thought !!

have you got in touch with the Spanish embassy? They may still accept the cards, I don't know. After all, they were properly issued at the time.

Depending on who you were flying with you may not get there with the ID card anyway
Ryanair for example will only accept a passport for photo id as do Easyjet

Serve you right. No sympathy. Trying to encourage the government to tag us all on their database. Anyway it was clear ages before the election that only authortarian Nu Labor was going to go ahead with this control system, the rest would scrap it; so you must have known.
