When your petrol light comes on saying you're getting low on petrol - what's the most miles you've got out of it before you've completely run out?

So far, in my peugeot 307, I've only dared go up to 20, but in a previous Peugeot 406 I once got a further 60 miles out of it once the light came on.

I think salla has a lot of miles on her clock. lol
I fill my car up on payday every month and if it's a long month or I have been on a longer run, I sometimes get to the petrol light before the end - I only drive a few miles a day on a normal day, but the most I have had to go is a day and a half, so about 10 miles maybe.
Hi 'sallabananas' - Somewhere in your handbook it should tell you the approximate mileage left when then light comes on, although I suspect they will be rather conservative with their estimate.

I was always told not to let the fuel level go too low in case it brings up sediment from the bottom of the tank. Also, I wont buy petrol if I see the delivery tanker on the forecourt, again because I heard it disturbs any sediment in the storage tanks.

Do you think I'm being paranoid about this??
I have a peugeot 307 and when the red light comes on i know i have about 2 gallons left
