holiday destination in December??

Hi - we are looking to get away from it all over Xmas and have been looking at The Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanks etc etc and am just wondering if there could be somewhere else, possibly closer to home that will still be fairly warm for a beach holiday - it's all so expensive at that time of year - any suggestions would be great

We love Cyprus - I don't know about December, but last October it was 30 deg. C.

Cyprus and the Canaries are both popular winter destinations.

You could look into catching some winter sun in Tunisia or Morocco.

I've swum in the sea on Jan 1 on La Palma. The southern hemisphere will be warmer, but the Canaries have the advantage of a shorter flight.

I'm assuming that because you mention Sri Lanka you are happy for somewhere a little different. With that in mind some options are: Dubai, Morrocco, Egypt (Red Sea) or Tunisia.
