Anybody recognise this from the late 70's early 80's

I certainly recognise the song - I also remember the line "thanks for all you did, i'm happy as a kid, i'm sleeping like a baby now". I have Googled and checked all the usual places, and can find no trace of the song. How odd. I saw this question before I went off on holiday and hoped someone would answer it - obviously nobody remembers it except us! I was thinking someone like Minnie Ripperton, certainly female as you said, probably black. How frustrating!
