Midge bites.....

how can I prevent them or at least deal with the bites. I have tried all sorts of hydrocortisone cream but it does not really help the itcheness and it is driving me crazy!! Thank you for your advice.

Buy some 'jungle formula' roll on stuff from Boots. I got a bite on the back of my head whilst
out walking the dog t'other night.

There are plenty of insect repellants these days, apparently the ones containing deet are the best. Once the bugs have bitten I find the only way to deal with them is from the inside, ie by taking anti-histamine tablets. Boots own 'one a day non-drowsy' suit me fine & I've just had to take one, I was bitten walking down the garden an hour ago! :o(

another vote for taking an antihistamine. I don't find the anti itch creams work at all. I have to be a n=bit careful with repellant as I have dogs and they will lick my hands/arms

avon's skin so soft dry oil spray in woodland fresh. works a treat, and you'll smell nice

Amber Rose, mazzies love me, but I have found one of the most effective deterrents (suprisingly) is "Skin So Soft Dry body oil spray" from Avon. It smells OK (unlike some of the chemical sprays) so I always have it in my bag,. That and a mozzie plug for the wall worked on holiday, I came back from Morocco with only 3 bites - and I always carry an After Bite stick in my handbag so if the little toads bite, I can dab it traight away before the irritant takes full-blown effect. PS Avon had an offer a couple of weeks ago of 4 bottles for £10, bargain (and I'm nothing to do with Avon, only a satisfied customer!)

best thing for mossie bites... is a small device from Boots or SUperdrug.. that gives you a tiny tiny electric shock - to the bite area... it neutralises the itchiness completely..

I have three of them now - as they are so brilliant.. so I always have one to hand in summer!
