Hi curiosity, it's the same band, although Jake Burns has for several years been the only original member - but then he writes most of the songs and Fingers ain't Fingers without that voice, let's face it! They've had Bruce Foxton from The Jam on bass for some time. You should go and see them, you'll love it if you've missed out on them for all these years. Still burning, but obviously about current issues. Not sure where you live, but here's the tour schedule for this season:
Thu 22 Sep Farnham The Maltings
Fri 23 Sep Blackwood The Miners Institute
Sat 24 Sep Swansea Patti Pavilion
Sun 25 Sep Exeter St Georges Hall
Tue 27 Sep Frome Cheese & Grain
Wed 28 Sep ISLE OF WIGHT Ryde Theatre
Thu 29 Sep Gloucester Guildhall Arts Centre
Fri 30 Sep Croydon Fairfield Hall
Sun 2Oct Peterborough The Cresset
Mon 3 Oct Crewe Limelight Club
Tue 4 Oct Derby The Assembly Rooms
Wed 5 Oct Bilston, Wolverhampton The Robin 2
Fri 7 Oct Blackburn King Georges Hall
Sat 8 Oct Durham University
Sun 9 Oct Irvine Magnum Leisure
Mon 10 Oct Edinburgh The Liquid Rooms
Nice to see a few appreciators of good music, thought we might have a few more though! I'm going to see them in October as I always do. I'm always too skint when they do the St Patrix tours in March, probably cos I'm still trying to get over Christmas at that time and having 2 kids - who have been well educated musically and insist on coming with us - it costs a fortune for four of us to go!
curiosity, forgot to mention, the website is www.slf.com
If you sign for updates they'll keep you informed via email. There's a virtual pub on there too, so you can go in for a chat. Apparently Jake's been in there quite a bit recently to keep people informed of what's going on as they've been having trouble with the website, but I've never been in myself.
pixi, what does mr p mean by the quality being crap? Sorry if I'm being thick!
I had forgotten all about SLF - now I can't stop singing "Alternative Ulster" - those were the days.
Although sometimes it is sad to see the same bands still going. I used to love the *********, but I saw them about 6 years ago - and seeing Pete Shelly singing Orgasm Addict was a lot sadder 20 years on.
