I sympathise with people who have a disability but why are Blue Badge holders given free parking?

They are permitted to park on single and double yellow lines, plus for free at on-street parking meters and pay-and-display machines

Having a disability ain't a sign of being poor is it?

they should have to pay like the rest of us do

Lesblue, the lady in question was not legally able to park there, as I said in an earlier post shortly after I got my blue badge I got a £30 fine for a similar thing though I did not actually cause an obstruction and was only in away from the car a few minutes a policeman decided I was parked in a position which was liable to cause an obstruction (looking at it he was right) and did me. The hand book that comes with the bluebadge explains quite clearly that this is a concession not a right and that anybody using the badge is epected to use it properly and with due consideration to other road users within the guide lines of the highway code
^^^^ thanks for that Paddywak. The Police got her to move, and I was on my way.
I did notice, however, that when I returned ten minutes or so later, after making my delivery, the Police were still talking to the lady, so it may well be that she too received more than just a ticking off.
