I have some shares for this company, burnden leisure, but now delisted from the stock market. Are they worthless and could i sell them privately

If they are not listed now, then the only way you can get value for them (if they are worth anything) is on a 'matched bargain' basis, where a stockbroker will search for a willing buyer. You don't say how many you've got so it's difficult to asess what they might be worth. If the company is a UK company, you can always look at its latest accounts at Companies House.
