Are the police above the law when it comes to parking on double yellows?????? I dont see a problem where they park when theres an emergency, but do you call sitting in the local kebab house for lunch as an emergency????? I think its a disgrace that they dont abide by the rules like every other law abiding citizen!!!

Report it.  Similar thing happened round here & somone took photos of the policemen returning with their lunch to their illegally parked police car.  If I remember rightly they were fined & disciplined  Of course it helped that the local rag published the photos...
worst drivers on the road (including ludicrous parking)  are the police, taxi drivers and mercedes drivers!
I agree with the Merc drivers bit as I'm a BMW driver ! and before anyone says it, there is a clause in the highway code that prohibits us from using indicators!
Have to agree with stoo_pid, report it. Vehicle reg no & Id no, polite letter to local Police Station. The Police are there to uphold the law, they're not above it.  Makes a mockery of the fact that they could then drive off and 10 mins down the road report someone for the same offence.
though there is the argument that they need to be able to respond to an emergency in a hurry - e.g. if you were being robbed you wouldn't want the police hunting around for loose change to get the motor out of the multistory in town rather than rushing straight over would you... actually that just means they shouldn't be in a kebab shop - so um i guess i agree it is a bit much
And as law abiding citizens, I bet everyone single Aber has never parked on double yellows or gone over the speed limit once!

Police people are civilians in uniform. They have no dispensation to break laws with no consequences.

However, they do become arrogant and believe that they are above the law or are somehow "untouchable". Reamarkable how many reports of theivery, thuggery, drug possesion and supply, sexual harrassment, paedophilia, manslaughter and murder commited by police people come to the surface. Even more alarming is that, given the "closing ranks" and lying that goes on the police force, this must be just the tip of iceberg.
