mobile phone keeps locking

Hi a friend of mine has a Nokia 6500 classic which she uses a lot on Facebook. The phone keeps locking up (screnn freezes & you can't do anything) which she says "Oh its just facebook I think I must have downloaded a virus or something." Can you download a virus by mistake when surfing via a phone & if so is there any anti-virus software that can be used? Or is it much simpler, like a faulty phone or does the cache need clearing or something like that? Any ideas please?

This is a common problem with this phone might be time to recycle it get some money and treat yourself to a new model..
