For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.True Count .My old chap is a lovely man and has a lovely family .Sadly my dear in laws have now passed away .He hails from a small town near Dusseldorf .I worked and lived in Germany for a while and loved it .His family made me so welcome when we got married and I still keep in touch with lots of elderly ladies that I 've inherited from ma in law :) And of course we have many other relatives there still.
I don't think we as a country, England, are any more antagonistic to foreigners than any other country, we just take a great delight in knocking ourselves over every negative thing, a Schadenfreude attitiude.
In America, the antagonism is between different states which can be quite funny, and they're not too fond of the French, or us at the moment I suppose.
Having lived in Germany for many years, the people were really no different than anywhere else, a mixture of attitudes, prejudices etc.
