One of my all time favourite records.
Just to clarify some of the above correct information I offer the following.
Concrete And Clay was an original by the UK vocal instrumental group Unit Four Plus Two. They recorded it on Decca Records in Feb 1965. It entered the UK charts on 25 Feb 65 and reached No 1 on 8th April. It stayed in the charts for a total of 15 weeks. It was knocked off the No 1 spot after only 1 week by Cliff Richard singing The Minute You're Gone.
At the same time that Unit 4 + 2 were in the UK charts a Eddie Rambeau from Pennysylvania USA issued an identical cover version which charted in the US. It was Rambeau's only US success and he never made the UK charts with this or anything else.
Randy Edelman a US male vocalist did a cover in 1976 entering the UK charts on 6th March and peaking at No 11 before dropping out of the charts after 7 weeks.
