In the U.S. at least, many older ladies are hired as flight attendants (the favored term here) and, as a matter of fact, it's illegal to deny employmnet based on age or appearance. In my many years as a pilot, the term has changed... used to be Stewardess', which apparently was deemed to sexist. At any rate, check this website.
