Cost of a new boiler?

We have decided to bite the bullet and buy a new boiler.
I have no idea how much it costs to buy and fit one.
Has anybody else recently had a boiler fitted? If so, roughly how much did it cost?

I got a new condenser boiler and three readiators replaced - British Gas, about £2500 (4-5 years ago) got it on the monthly. The workmen were excellent, quick and tidied up. It took a day and they put 3 men on it. I have been very happy with it.

There was a government incentive for new for old boilers (like the car scrappage scheme) Check out if it`s still running

I think Mosaic is right on the button there Squzz. Around £2k for boiler only. Also, British Gas are fine, but usually a little more expensive than your "friendly" local plumber lol

Sadly our boiler is only seven years old (a rubbish experimental boiler that is no longer in production!), and no claim to any benefits.
£2k it is then. After five years of continual problems, I think for my peace of mind it will be a small(ish) price to pay!!!

You could probably get it cheaper than 2k. My boss use to supply and fit worcester bosch combi boiler for £1,600.

Get several quotes - worth checking with a number of companies. That said, mine cost £2.5K including installation, five years back. Well worth it for the peace of mind!

go for the boiler with the longest guarantee...just had one fitted with a 5 year guarantee £2,500,it replaced a really old potterton so it wasnt straight forward, also got the £400 scrappage rebate

forgot to add , i had quotes ranging up to £5,500!!,in one instance it was recomended i had a complete system including rads!! totaly unecessary ..SHOP AROUND..and go on recomendations.

I had a quote from a gas fitter friend of my dads and he has said £1,800 fully fitted. It needs moving and all sorts of stuff so we have probably got a good deal!

We went with British Gas with 10 year guarantee and got a discount with the boiler scrappage scheme, think it came to just under £3000 and we do the pay monthly option.

£3k is far to much. The moral is don't go to BG unless you insist on using their monthly payment option. That's part of the reason why they are so darn expensive in comparison.

don't use british gas, they charge double what most smaller firms do and don't do as good a job as they used to many yrs ago.

i wouldn't consider any boiler other than a vaillant or a worcester-bosch which are top of the range and you should be looking around 2k fitted.

Scottish Gas wanted £3000 from me and then I would have a monthly service agreement payment over and above.

My local plumber fitted one with a five year guarantee so it will be fixed for free if it breaks down and no £25 charge each month.
