I would like to wish everyone a happy fathers day.

If you still have your dad - make the most of him!
And if like me you no longer have one around - I hope you have fond memories.

Love to you all

I have no doubt in my mind that my Father adored me, only daughter and all that but it was tainted by the way he treated my mother all the years they were together (when I was a child). You cannot respect a man like that, whether he is your Father or not!

My Mother also loves me unconditionally but I unfortunately am a bit of a lone ranger, I have never felt that I need people in my life. So I have always pushed her away - we are friendly with each other and see each other every now and then. She had a cancer scare recently, that made me realise how much I do actually love her. But as two people we don't really match that well.
ummm..yes it definitely did.I never got emotionally attached to ANY patient and to me they were a job to be done as best as i could. I have told relatives, parents of children etc that their loved ones were going to die and then I could go to lunch, chat with the lads, laugh and tell dirty jokes.
A couple of my mates got emotionally involved, one committed suicide age 36years old ( a woman) and the other was admitted into a Psychiatric Hospital and had to give up medicine.
I was determined that that would not happen to me and that "bad luck" was just part and parcel of life.
Fair play...and understandable.

I'm asking you too many questions....

How are you with distraught people. Do you show sympathy?
ummm...no problems.

How am I with distraught people? embarrassed, but considerate( I think ;-)

It is embarrassing dealing with people who are upset or crying - it is for me anyway's, I always thought it was the same for everyone. My partner cried in front of me once and I was so freaked out by it - I didn't know what to do. Obviously I tried to comfort him but it made me so uncomfortable.
Greedyfly...LOL....I can empathise with you.
I'm not that dis-similar to you actually. I was just had a very strong attachment to my Dad (and my Uncle) and now when people die it reminds me how I felt and really upsets me.

Most of the people I know think I am a little weird because I don't like children, I don't have many friends, I am not a family person, I like to spend time alone, hate people who are tactile and don't really show much emotion to anything. I think it's just who I am. I remember being about seven years old and hating being cuddled by either of my parents. Obviously not the touchy feely type lol
Depends what type of crying it is Greedy. OH cries quite a bit but not in the 'I need comfort' type of way. He's gets upset when other people do....bless him (especially girls, he hates to see girls cry)
It's 14 years since I lost my dad and there's not a day goes by that I don't think of him. He wanted to go, but it's hard for those left behind, I adored him.
I am glad this thread isn't quite as damp around the edges as when I left in the wee small hours. I think its been great sharing all these emotions and memories and hope you all have a good day from here on in. Happy thoughts.

M♥
