Bobbi, my granny is 84 and still hasn't given in to pensioner status. She's never home, always either out visiting, away for a long walk, up the town seeing a show (2 in the one day last time) or partying hard. She'll occasionally say she's feeling her age cos she's tired, till you remind her she's been out every night for a week. She's fitter than me, has more of a life than me and looks like she's in her 60's. So I say go girl and enjoy yourself! x

Age shouldn't matter a jot. Just because you reach pension age to don't suddenly change. I take full advantage of all the discounts and don't care who knows how old I am. I am me and I will not be put in a category just because of my age. Sometimes I feel a lot younger than a lot of young people I see out and about who have no get up and go and no sense of adventure.

The nice thing about being older is that I don't give a jot what anyone thinks of me and am happy in my own skin.

Don't know about the Dog and Parrot (might be a later establishment) but the pub opposite Newcastle Central Station was the Victoria and Comet (known locally as the "Spit and Vomit"). You only had to visit once to understand its nickname. Eventually, in an attempt to go up-market, it became Yates Wine Lodge. Enough said!

Can't stand the sight of pensioners trying not to "act their age"....they look bloody stupid.

It is possible you know to grow old with dignity AND enjoy your life.
There are NO advantages to growing old......you are a pain in the @rse to somebody, one way or another.

Sqad - I don't want to grow old with dignity, I want to turn into a really eccentrentic and daft old woman who embarrasses her family. I will wear flowered leggings and a feathered hat and kinky boots, die my hair purple and smother my face in makeup - yep, I would really enjoy that!!
