Hello everyone.
I recently watched this wonderful Nature program with Philippa Forrester and Charlie Hamilton James.
I really liked the show, but those kids of his were a bit mischievous!! Heh,heh!!
Anyway, I would like to know where this place was filmed.
Although it says in the TV guide that it's along a West country river, and I've also tried to look it up in a road map of Britain.I've even tried to Google the Halcyon river, but with no success!!
I guess this Halcyon name has been made up, to keep their privacy!!
I have an inkling that as it's shot in the west, it could be Somerset or somewhere in Bristol.
I really don't know. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thank you.
Halcyon is not a particular river it is a word that means Calm, Peaceful, Tranquil, it is also I think a type of Kingfisher. Therefore Halcyon River Diaries means The River Diaries of a calm, peaceful ,river.
I'm pretty certain poodicat,as he did mention in the show that they were his sons.
Very interesting sugapapa.Thank you for that added information.
You live and learn ehhh!!
The programme is filmed along the River Boyd in Bitton which is not far from Bath. I walk my dog there every day and it is a lovely walk along the river to Wick.
We enjoyed the programme to. Did anyone see the programme a couple of years ago when they "adopted" an otter, that was lovely. As for their boys, well there boys and enjoying themselves, at least their language was clean unlike some of the boys of the same age you hear around. What a lovely place for them to grow up.
I know where its filmed and jonaish is correct. i grew up in the area and a friend back then use to live in whats now their house. I spent many a weekend on sleep-overs enjoying that river. Fantastic :)
Jonaish is correct in where its filmed. I grew up in the area and my friend use to live in the very same house. I had many a great time playing in the river outside the house and great memories of sleeping over. Fantastic to see :)
