I know I'm a bit early (I like to be very organised!), but I'm looking into getting my daughter a netbook for Christmas. It will be for basic internet and homework etc, nothing too complicated so I was thinking of getting a 7inch one.
Just wanted to know if any of you have them, reviews or suggestions etc.
Any help much appreciated

Personally I think the 7inch screen ones are a little too small to use comfortably due to both the screen size and the small keyboards and the 10inch screen ones are far more usable.
What sort of cost?

Personally I would wait and see what deals come along.

Consider the price, a brand new netbook costs on average £250 brand new. For that price you could buy yourself a used full size 1-2 year old laptop with all the trimmings which can easily out perform a netbook.

But if still sway by netbook's portability then also consider buying a 19 inch external lcd monitor for home use.

Thanks for your answers.
I don't need any that does cartwheels and that. We don't need a 19" external monitor as we have a home pc. It is just to help my daughter with her homework. She will be coming up for 10 at Christmas and her homework is getting a bit more complex. I just want something small that she can use to do a bit of research and a bit of typing without her having to be shut away in the office at home.
The 7" ones start at about £70 but I don't really know much about RAM and Hard drive memory but presume something like the small ones would be suitable?
Any more help would be greatly appreciated.

A 7" netbook won't be suitable, she'll be scrolling left to right as well as up and down.
The £70 ones are browsers only - no hard drive, usb ports or anything. They are for good for sending emails and browsing the internet on the move, nothing more.
Far better to get a 10" or 11" one which will still be portable but will be usable and will work well with the family pc. Here is an example.
