Will be sixty four on Saturday 26th! Thinking back on the Beatles When I'm Sixty four!
Haven't lost my hair, I dig the garden dig the weeds, still send Valentine, greeting cards, drink bottles of wine and still need people and people still need me so I should have a happy birthday! Check out Beatles lyrics When I'm sixty four !

Don't forget that was written in the early sixties, when we thought 64 was a looooong way off, and grannies still wore shawls!

Bernard Cribbins!
Don't dig it there. Dig it elsewhere. You're digging it round and it oughta be square. Bernard Cribbens. What a lyricist.

Happy birthday for the 26th.

Agree with answers that song was written in the sixties when they thought we would all be decrepit! Loved the Beatles grew up with them!
Right Said Fred.
When and 64 and Hole In The Ground are easy songs to get mixed up though :)
McCartney wrote it when he was 16, so 1958.
Dear oh dear, we were all a bit out - released in 1967, I just had to look it up.

I'd gone off 'em a bit by the time Sgt Pepper was released - but I still have all the earlier albums, much played but still intact in their original sleeves....
> Agree with answers that song was written in the sixties

Except that it wasn't, of course...
Belay that, read the article properly, Paul was indeed 16 when he wrote it (but we didn't know the Beatles that early!)
