Hope you don't mind me asking you but do you know how far the main line station in Brighton is from the shops and the front?

just in case JJ is awol.

It's only a 10-15 minute walk down thru North Laines to main shops, Laines and Sea Front.

Bear in mind its a steep hill for when you trek back with all your shopping but taxis are readily available.

in case JJ isn't around 10 mins to the main shops and another 5 to the promenade all downhill of course, takes longer walking back uphill

What a lazy nation we've turned into! Think of the exercise and soldier through it Chickadee, I don't know how steep this hill is but I doubt It's Mount Everest!

Isn't Brighton station just round the corner from The Mincers Arms?

From the front, it's about half a mile ... out of the main exit from the station, straight down Queen's Road (stopping in at the Seagulls Supporters Shop, half way down on your left). Keep going down West Street ...

... avoid turning right at all costs ... you will end up in Hove !!! ...

Easy.

But you'd probably want to end up a bit more centrally. Going down Queen's Road, turn left into North Road, all the way to the bottom, and then right, taking you past the Pavilion. That way, it's nearer a mile, maybe a bit less.

But for shops, work your way down North Road, and take any of the small roads off to your right. That will take you into The Lanes. Keep on going, and you end up at the seafront again.

The thing to bear in mind about Brighton Station (which you won't see if you just look at a map) ... is that going back to the station from the shops or seafront ... it's ALL uphill ... and quite steeply uphill !!

Don't have lunch on the seafront. Work your way back into the maze of The Lanes ... you will find no end of places to sit outside and watch the world go by.
