The voltage of electricity is measured in volts, and the current of electricity is measured in ampares (amps).  A unit of electricity according to your friendly local electricity supplier is kWh (kilo-Watt-hours).

The SI unit of charge is the coulomb.
1 ampere = 1 coulomb per second

The SI unit of energy is the joule. (=2.78 �10−7 kWh)
1 volt = 1 joule per coulomb

a unit of electricity is an old term for a kilowatt-hour of electrical energy and can be calculated from the formula:-

energy = power x time

If power is in kilowatts and time is in hours then energy will be in kilowatt-hours(kWh) eg

An 3kW electric fire switched on for 2 hours will consume 6kWh (3x2) ie 6 units.
