By the way best of luck in your new job. I haven't started looking yet. My illness is work related, so if I found a job tomorrow, I would have no guilt feelings whatsoever. Not that it is of any concern to anybody except yourself what your personal circumstances are.
PS I work in HR and I am not allowed to pass on medical information to another employer, nor indeed give a bad reference. The only thing they can do is refuse to give a reference. I hope this helps.

Thank you Alice. I am glad I helped. Yes, you are quite right, employers by law cannot give a bad reference, but can refuse to give a reference.
I sincerely hope that you find a suitable job quickly. I had a long term sick period due to a physical problem and know just what it is like. Job Centres have people that you can talk to that will help you get suitable employment and even provide you with equipment that will help you. You don't have to be registered disabled to get this help - just have an illness or disability that is making it difficult to get work or do your current job successfully. (You probably know this as you work in HR),
By the way I am a 'she' ;o)

Hi Aaron, I too am thinking of going on sick leave as I don't feel able to return to work for someone who has brought me to a supervision with HR Manager without telling me about it first and having time to prepare and bring in my own representative. I was also told I would get the minutes from the meeting but 10 days later still haven't as I think they know I have grounds for a grievance. Not really sure what to do though as frightend to go off sick but also to give notice in case of after effects stop me gaining employment in the future
