Hardware not recognised

I have been lent a Dimage scan Elite II but my computer refuses to recognise this as new hardware I am running XP The driver etc has installed OK Tried unplugging everthing and rebooting but with the same result HE L P

This one you are using?
Seen the entry about old drivers?
Try different USB socket ... May need power that the socket cannot supply.

You are a star I think you could be right as when I switched on the computer this morning it worked but then I connected the power for my internet connection and lost the scanner connection.

I have lots of photos on slide that I want to convert to pictures
