Ive read and heard a few remarks along the lines of: "I'm ashamed to be English" kind of remark, because of England's performance in the world cup.
Do people really think that way, are people so stupid they judge their own country by a a game of football, 11 men kicking a ball around a field ?
I'm not a football fan but this really is pathetic, do you agree?

I'm ashamed that the ruling body which gave football to the world seems incapable (from the top down) of organising a team that performs well at the highest level; and I feel that 'that' reflects badly on us..............
If anyone should tell me face to face that they are "ashamed of being English" because of that perishing match, they'll be getting short shrift..............

Couldn't give a monkeys, I prefer rugby... Which we did actually manage to win a game in (with Australia so extra kudos) a few weeks ago but I think it went unnoticed!
And that English football team are frankly lucky to have got as far as they did, the bits I did see lacked passion, flare and in no way matched the standard of some of the other teams playing and I think there's only so much you can blame the manager for that.

Old Geezer, I promise you, you will not find anybody more proud to be English than me!! that's why I'm disgusted at people turning their backs and being ashamed of their country over a football game. Of course I wanted England to bring the cup home but I'm not going to throw all my toys out of my pram just because they lost, pathetic!!!
So you think its OK to be ashamed of England just because they didn't even get to play in the final rounds!!!

I'm ashamed to be English.
The way we got caught out by the Normans in 1066 was just embarrassing.
Harold knew there was a threat of invasion in Sussex (yeah, yeah ... sorry!) but still took the whole Army north to Stamford Bridge.
By the time he got back, the English Army was depleted and tired.
We were totally outplayed.
And by the French, of all people !!
