The computer cannot boot after restart (Windows XP). The message is the following: NTLDR IS MISSING. What is the reason of this problem, and how can I resolve it?

I would recommend backing up your important files and performing a clean reinstall of Windows XP, ensuring that you format the hard-disk in NTFS format when prompted. This file structure provides much greater reliability and security.
