I have a Dell Inspiron Mini and cannot find the £ sign. I tried googling and the information was so technical I couldn't fathom it out. Is there just a key you press (like pressing the " instead of the @)
or do I have to change the setting (and if so, how?).

Isn't it above No3?
No3 on my keyboard?
If it's an American keyboard, it might be above the ' (where our @ is) as I think they transpose them
Go to control panel
Open 'Regional & Language'
Go to the Keyboard & Language tab
Change keyboard setting to 'UK English'

Thanks will try changing the setting.
How did you manage to ask your question if you can't find it?

DUH :-)
May not have used the laptop to ask the question?
Ensure the Numlock is on, hold down the Alt key and tap 156 on the keypad (not the numbers above the letter keys). Let the Alt key go and a £ appears on screen.
Oops! There is no number pad on a Dell Inspiron Mini.
