10 hour shifts, no break, no chairs!

We normally work double day shifts 6-2 and 2-10, with no meal break, on the proviso we eat (and sit) when we can. This works quite well. Recently, though, we have been required to work 10-hour shifts, 6-4 and 12-10pm. We brought a chair into the room, as the work is manual and quite heavy, then the boss saw it and had it removed. So we now work 10 hour shifts with no meal break and nowhere to sit except the floor. What can we do?

Can't access Markrea's link but I find that appalling. Do you perhaps work for a Security firm? Went down that road many years ago when I was on the bones of my ****. Never again! I don't know what your circumstances are, but all other things being equal I would ask for your terms and conditions of work to be put in writing. If this proves unsatisfactory I would resign, armed with the necessary paperwork and go public.
Its illegal to do this BUT its the same for my poor fiance as well! He does 12 hours and gets 25 mins break and it takes 10 mins to get out of the actual factory!!!! Hes always knackered and now has repetative strain in his back and wrist. To be honest with you, if your strong enough take your boss to court, if your not quit now before you burn yourself out!
