think i've developed a verruca under my heel, right in the middle. been looking on patient uk and they recommend 4 methods of treatment:
salicylic acid
freezing
duct tape
do nothing
as i've not had a verruca for probably 40 years, and none of my children did, i'd appreciate any opinions about these suggested treatments. thanks.

I actually cut mine out with nail clippers and then had a banana skin in my shoe for a bit
I've never heard of using duct tape!

Bazuka is quite good!
Not had one for years .. although I get sore toes quite a bit.
Last time, just cut and pared away with a scalpel.
Bit like removing a knot from softwood : )
I got Carnation Cryospray Verucca and Wart Remover for my grandson. Anyone over 4 years old can use this, one application and verucca disappeared in about 2 weeks. Great stuff, but read instructions carefully, cost about £9.99, not cheap but very effective.

thanks for your responses. have decided to go down the duct tape route and see what happens. i thought the guy in wicks would laugh when he asked what i wanted it for, but he said a number of people have bought duct tape for the same reason on the recommendation of their doctor.
I have used WARTNER which is like in an aerosol and freezes the verruca off, however I think mine must be very deep rooted as its still there albeit smaller....I went to have it frozen off (cryosurgery) but alas! I heard a boy screaming who was having it done and i am afraid I bricked it, and came away without having it done....is duct tape the same as gaffer tape?

duct tape is made out of plastic, gaffer tape is made out of cloth.
duct tape is waterproof so i imagine that's why it's recommended. the roll of duct tape i bought does have bits of cloth running through it but it's a plastic tape, and VERY sticky. i think it works like a waterproof plaster and makes the skin/verruca underneath very soft. they say to keep it on for 6 days, then soak the verruca for 10-15 minutes and try to remove some of it, leave it overnight then put duct tape on for another 6 days (if the tape falls off during the 6 days, just put some more on).
the other advantage of duct tape is that it means the verruca won't get spread around if you walk around with bare feet. it's very sticky tape so i think it'll stay on better than a waterproof plaster.
they reckon even if you do nothing the verruca should go in a couple of months.
My daughter had one and I used the duct tape method.

What a waste of duct tape.

I couldn't get the stuff to stay on for more than ten minutes perhaps 15 if she put her socks on.

It got so big I had to freeze it off.

My son developed one last week and I got Bazuka gel and his is getting bigger!! so I got Bazuka freeze but it didn't have the pump bit so I spent £13 for nothing.

mine has stayed on all day and is still stuck fast. will have to see how it goes.
Now believe it or not, but a piece of banana skin put over it in your shoe works. Anyone else tried it?
