Few years ago I used to have a pedigreed white persian cat I didn't want him going out unless I was out in the garden with him. He got to know this but after a few years I let him out on his own and he never bothered to go away.

They adapt to being house cats if they have known nothing else. My two are indoor cats and they don't seem to have a problem with it.

Good luck with your kitten.

thank you : )
Don't have one have two they play with each other rather than wrecking the place
I had two house cats when we lived in a flat. All you have to do is not let them out! but make sure they can see out of the window as it's interesting to watch outside. Very clean litter tray kept in a different part of the house to the food area (we kept out little trays in the bathroom). Cat grass or catnip in dishes give a change of snacks - ctas would eat grass out of doors when they need to. Mind your house plants - some are poisonous to cats. If cats don't do out, they don't mind. My friend made a wire screen so she could open her windows wide without worrying that her casts would jump out.
My 2 are house cats and it's never been a problem - in fact I did try taking one out the front door when he was very unsettled one day and he nearly ripped me to shreds trying to get back inside. They like to sit on the veranda and watch the world go by, but they're not interested in going any further.
